Greetings once again to my Brothers and Sisters of the RIMA Tres Dias Community,
Last month I shared with you from Micah Chapter 4:1-2 where we talked about all great journeys begin with a vision. I would like to keep with that theme as we move closer to the fall and weekend number 46 this October. I did not develop the original outline for the message I will be sharing with you but have added commentary to it. John C. Maxwell a great minister and business leader compiled the devotional bible that I read on a regular basis.
Team Building: Jesus Assembled a team to own a vision. In Mark 2:14-17 we read about this. One could argue that Jesus constructed the most important team ever assembled. He chose specific individuals for specific roles. He chose the unlikely and developed them to reach their potential. And he chose an odd player Matthew to add to the mix.
Matthew was a hated tax collector, despised because he and his ilk seized money for the Roman government- traitors in the eyes of most Israelites. Jesus had the spiritual insight to choose those that were unloved and to many showed little promise. He saw Matthew’s potential to become an apostle and a writer though. Jesus never felt bound by human opinion or approval. He didn’t judge by externals. He trusted individuals based on their future potential, not present status. We must follow the same plan as Jesus as we form our teams this fall and ask the following questions.
- 1. What positive qualities exist in our brothers and sisters? Jesus Christ our savior, and not Steve the silly man will direct this coming fall men’s weekend. Every team member has a unique roll just as Jesus disciples did. This is how he is able to use the positive qualities we all posses in the forming of our teams.
- 2. Do the individuals show initiative? Each member of the team although unique in their roles must work together and help one another to be a successful team.
- 3. Would theses people add positive chemistry and unique value if placed on team? Each of us has the ability to relate to our new brothers and sisters in a different way, which is why we must focus on Jesus as we build the teams not only this fall but in the future. He knows in advance which brothers and sisters in our community will fit best when the candidates arrive.
- 4. Are the team members hungry to become something more than what they are now? Do they desire to serve him in every way every day? Do they demonstrate passion that is focused on Jesus?
- 5. Could they play a needed role on the team? Are they willing to fill a void and take a job that might not appear to be that glamorous if it works to the benefit of the team and Jesus Christ our Savior? I can tell you that the men who have answered yes to his call this fall can answer yes to these questions.
As the team meetings have begun I have been in awe of the tremendous team that God is assembling. It is inspiring to see men from all ages, walks, and regions come together with one sole purpose but to glorify our Lord.
Although we have a couple of gaps to fill in the team Jesus has a great plan for this fall. It has been a challenge to find men willing to serve as auxiliaries and work behind the scenes. Please keep our team in prayer as men step forward to fill this gap. Also as some of you know one of our Spiritual Directors, Bruce Bliss has had to step down. Rev Joe Dileo has stepped in to fill this gap. Bruce has answered a call to serve at a church in the Atlanta Georgia area, which is wonderful news. He will be ministering with a colleague that both have dreamed of working together for many years and God has opened the door to make this possible.
We look forward to seeing everyone in the community at the closing on October 17th. There are many opportunities to serve and provide palanca of all types this fall. Dave Pierce is our community coordinator. Please do not hesitate to contact him at 508-378-6036, or myself at 508-823-0137, for a list of opportunities to serve throughout the weekend.
